The University of Denver’s Mary Reed Hall is reported to have cold and warm spots, doors that open on their own, electrical anomalies, and an apparition, which some say is either building namesake Mary Reed or her daughter Margery. Likewise, Mrs. DuPont’s apparition has been seen sitting and reading (in the dark, no less) in the DuPont Room and the Renaissance Room. Not to be outdone, Dunklee Hall at the campus’s Lamont School of Music has a ghost of female student who committed suicide on floor 3.

  1. I was a student at DU from 1997-2001. My Theater classes were held in Margery Reed Hall. College students had the basement and main level. We also shared the space with DU high school, which was on the upper level. Access to the lighting booth was through the boys bathroom in the high school area. The college students did not intermingle with the high school students unless we had to access the lighting booth. The building was definitely haunted. Myself and others had many strange experiences there, mostly in the basement and the main level. I even had a strange experience in the lighting booth. I’m not sure if the high school area was as haunted as the rest of the building, since we didn’t have a lot of contact with the high school students. The building was torn down and a newer, nicer building was put in its place after I graduated. I have no idea if the new building is haunted, but the old one was.
