Amador Hotel

The Amador Hotel, built in 1866, is popular among the area’s ghost tours. Witnesses describe apparitions, shadows, malfunctioning flashlights, and scratches that appeared on a man’s arm as he was touring the upstairs. That’s where Annie is said to reside, a playful spirit who has asked ghost investigators to bring her a purple toy.

    1. My friends and I went on a ghost tour here and we have pictures of a face starring at us as we lay on a bed on the first floor. I love this place. I would go back again!

    2. They had a self guided tour day in the hotel before it was closed to repair the second floor. I have this picture on my facebook page, Caruthers Gillotti Investigations. The hotel will reopen soon as part of the downtown improvement project.

    3. I remember frequenting the bar at the Amador Hotel from 1964-1968. I was a young engineer working at White Sands Test Facility for the Grumman Corporation and loved every minute of my time there. I will never forget those days. There was also the William Bonney Room in Old Mesilla with Gene Smith at the piano, best I’ve ever heard.

    4. I was part of a ghost tour at The Amador in 2013. During the orientation at the beginning of the tour, I captured an orb (in three separate photos) as it descended right above a woman’s head. Immediately after taking the photo, the woman stated she didn’t “feel right” and told her husband she wanted to leave. She never returned.
