Mary Jane’s 1896 Bar & Grille is also known as “The 1896” — and the place was, in fact, built in 1896. Legend has it that there were several deaths, including murders and suicides, in the apartment above it, and the resultant ghosts like to play pranks. One ghost likes dimes, and it is said that those who set a dime somewhere on the premises will find it the next day on the bar. The ghosts also have been known to throw bottle caps, pans, and bricks, and lock people in the restrooms.

My name is Phil Garrison from Tulsa, OK. I run a local house painting business at the moment…before that I ran 3 perfume offices. One in Vegas. One in Feyetville, Arkasas. My last office was in Tulsa. We sold fragrances b to b. My favorite places to go were small towns, far from any malls…After my office was shut down a few of us would still hustl from time to time. On this particular road crew which ran from Thursday through Saturday I had my best friend Mike Bedner with me. He sold twice as many bottles then me in a day. Rarely did I ever beat him, and he had no sense of smell…from an old head injury in our early 20’s…Mike also had a thing for haunted places…so naturally i learned to like it as well. We had been to a number of places in OklaHoma. I have never seen anything but the hair on my neck has stood up a few times with Mike in these places. He was naturally drawn to it…Where ever we went we had fun… always had fun. Bedner was one of the Smartest, and funniest friend I had. We were staying in McAllister and working the small town mainly stayed at the hotel on the main strip that had bar attached to it.
