Thompson Island Bridge is said to be a favorite spot for the spirit of a Confederate soldier. His apparition, with his rifle, is said to appear more often before or during times of war. According to legend, the man lived in a nearby cabin and had made a promise with his brother that when they went off to fight in the Civil War, they’d return home, no matter what.

I went here tonight 5-28-17 it was rainy and dark. It was at around 11 pm so we just went for a couple of minutes. We didn’t get off because it was pretty wet and extremely dark but we drove slowly back and forth and the first time we did we heard a scream it was like a shout, but after that we didn’t hear or see anything.
Our house got destroyed in a tornado and now every once in a while we will here weird noises like knocking and footsteps our our name being called by someone we know but they will be away from home.
