According to one local legend about this church and its surrounding area, around the turn of the century a man killed his wife and daughter here and buried them nearby. He committed suicide later, and his apparition has been seen on the property. The screams of his family have been reported as well. Another legend tells of an apparition of a Native American woman who has been seen walking along the side of the road and vanishing at the spot where her house used to stand. It is said that she will have conversations with the living as she walks, but when she gets to the spot where her house used to stand, she says she’s home and vanishes into her “house.” Voices and apparitions also have been reported in the church cemetery.
