Deep River Public Library

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Deep River Public Library

The library is housed in an 1881 building, originally built as a home to banker Richard Pratt Spencer and his family. It became a library in 1933. Although additions were made over the years, folks say the building’s haunts stay in the original part. Witnesses describe disembodied voices, strange sounds, and the feeling that invisible entities are present.

  1. My team and I did a formal ghost hunt here and got a couple of great EVP’S…. but the most amazing thing was the VERY loud party noises we hear on the video at one part, but there were only two others there besides us and the head librarian. None of us seem to hear these party voices as we do not react to them at all, and they consist of loud laughing, talking, clinking of glasses and distant piano music.
Shortly before capturing this, she was showing us the basement and specifically mentioned hearing a party going on another time, which stopped when she went upstairs to investigate!
