Was at Beardsley castle when I was 5 years old. I’m now 72. Tired from the long drive from Clayton NY we needed food. Saw this restaurant sign, went up to the large door, and knocked, as it seemed locked. Met the lady who lived there, and she said that the restaurant was closed and only opened on weekends. My mom and I were hoping for a meal, after returning home from the 1000 Islands. The lady was kind, saw our plight, and offered to make us some spaghetti. I remember feeling as if someone was watching me, and felt uncomfortable. The lady, being told of this said, “oh! that’s probably the
Captain”. She said to my mom that I was sensitive. My mom misunderstood and the lady knew this, and said that I was probably a “sensitive”, as children usually are. My mom didn’t like this, as we were very religious, and this was considered something not good to believe in. We were served the meal in the restaurant part which was very dark, and I felt very uneasy and wouldn’t eat the food even though I was so hungry! Mom convinced me that I HAD to eat and then I would feel better. I ate. As we were preparing to leave, while mom was paying the bill, I looked toward the kitchen area, and saw a fast moving black shadow figure move across the doorway. I was so scared – even though I told my mom to look, we hurriedly left the lady and her “Captain” behind. I have never forgotten that experience, and that was not imagination, nor was it something “I thought” I saw, but I relate this and know what I saw to this very day. I’ll be going back to this place soon, as it is still a restaurant, and probably has been renovated and updated… I’m sure.
Great story!
Me.and my family are locals of little falls and in the beginning of October decided to take a trip to the mausoleum of Beardslee castle with hopes of finding ghostly apparitions at first there was nothing in the pictures that we had but we stayed for a bit and it got cold and on our way back to town before reviewing the pictures we have from the trip we saw a light like a lantern light across the river that was by the road but when we past were it was it was gone. We then review the pictures to find that in a couple a crap ton of orbs in most however looking into the orb there were faces of people probably Indians that died when they blew up the ammo dump. Then we approached the one I am sharing with you and in the Corner of the black was mr Beardslee him self we were shocked with the find
Hope is supposed to encourage you not demean your comments Geez
My mother worked there many years ago after Ames department store closed down in Palatine bridge New York. She told me that the place was not haunted the castle itself the barn on the other hand was haunted. The castle itself in The wine room aka the dungeon has switches and pull cords in other things to make people believe that the place is haunted. Me myself have never been in the castle but I have been to Beardsley lake more than once and I have had paranormal experiences at the lake. As for Beardsley Castle it’s basically up to you to decide whether you believe it’s haunted or not.
Great story!
