Avant-garde artist Andre Smith was a writer, etcher and sculptor built the pretty art compound in the 1930s with galleries and Mayan- and Aztec-inspired gardens, courtyards and an open-air chapel (a popular spot for weddings). Although Smith passed away March 3, 1959, folks say his ghost still watches over his beloved compound. Some visitors have felt his presence; others tell the tale of an day when the chairs and furniture were rearranged by unseen hands and the phones and lights went crazy on the center director’s birthday, which happened to coincide with Smith’s death day.

I work at this museum infact i clean it. I am a young female psychic and felt this presence there many times but was unable to distinguished who or what this presence was. One day when me and my wife were doing our Monday weekly cleaning in the main museum, one of the directors came in and ask of us to make sure to do detail cleaning and my wife has said ok, and so did this mans voice. (i wasn’t in the same room as the two of them but herd the mans response) i assumed that the voice came from the maintenance man, but as i investigated to see who else was in the building with us my wife had informed me that it was just me her and the lady and ask if i knew where the man was. I told her there is no man here. we both then decided to finish up our work and leave it alone. We still clean this museum. Now we know who’s soul that haunts this place.
