Built in 1859, the house was converted into a museum in 1962 and donated to the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation in 1977. The museum is said to be haunted; the apparition of an elderly woman in a mid-1800s dress has been seen in the hallways. Witnesses also describe cold spots, footsteps, and doors that slam on their own. Some have reported the feeling of someone breathing over their shoulder, or heard the sound of moans from the master bedroom.

I went on normal tour of the Hay House, not looking for a paranormal experience. However part way through the tour, I began to feel like I was standing in a freezer. Cold air seemed to blow over my shoulder constantly. This was even more abnormal as it was a mid-June day, probably between 90 to 100 degrees outside.
i was in a summer amp that went into the Hay House on a tour. In the dining room, our group and a group of film makeslostened to the tour guide. When she mentioned the wife of one of the owners, a window which was propped open by a book slammed shut.
