In the 1940s when this building was a private home, a woman named Cora Van Voorhis fell to her death from the top of the stairs. Cora’s granddaughter had said she saw Cora’s ghost after the funeral, so it isn’t all that unlikely that her spirit still remains here. When the Yak & Yeti Indian restaurant took up residence here (it was formerly the Cheshire Cat Brewpub), a paranormal research group was brought in because staff members had experienced evidence of what they thought was a ghost. The investigators heard women’s voices and clinking noises, saw lights flicker for no apparent reason, and obtained video footage of a chair moving by itself.
