Built around 1830, this inn is said to be haunted by a servant of the former owners, the Hunts. Before the Hunts fled the house to escape a yellow fever epidemic in 1873, they entrusted their servant, Nathan Wilson, with a chest of gold to pay for the home’s upkeep. Poor Nathan was found dead of yellow fever in the home shortly thereafter, with muddy boots and a shovel at his side. He had apparently buried the gold to keep it safe, and no one knows where. But to this day, the ghost of a man in 19th-century garb can be seen, and he appears desperate to convey his message to anyone who will listen.

I stayed the night in 2002 and I had heard it was haunted and felt a heaviness to the energy there when we arrived. My friends stayed on the ground floor in a room by the front door. And I stayed in an upstairs sort of apartment area that was the residents “cat apartment”. Before I went to bed I asked that if there was a spirit there that they should come to me with a message in my dreams rather than try to get my attention when I am awake.
I had a dream about a young man dressed in a servants uniform, he came and sat at the edge of my bed and told me a story, he had sort of reddish hair and freckles and a gold watch in his vest. He talked about an illness that swept through the house and that it had killed a girl he was in love with that had worked in the kitchen. It was interesting, he thanked me for listening and then went away. I am not sure this matches with other stories and wasn’t sure if it matched the history of the house but it was really vivid.
When I got up and around the next day, my friends downstairs had a rough night, apparently the front door opened up and slammed and scared the beejeezus out of them.
I guess me asking politely to not be startled helped or that area of the house is a little more angsty.
Thanks!
