This place is definitely haunted. I stayed there one night in October to tour Eastern State Penitentiary and I was unaware of the history before staying there, but it didn’t take long to realize this wasn’t your run of the mill B&B. The second floor holds most of the rooms, my room was on the 3rd. The only room up there, it had a sitting room and two bedrooms and one shared bath. At the bottom of the stairs to our room there was a room in the farthest wing of the house. The hall looked darker, the air felt colder, fear crept up your spine at the thought of walking down that hall. The incident that confirmed my suspicions didn’t happen til around midnight. My group and I were having coffee on the porch to unwind aftera long night of touring. I went up to the room to use the restroom I had to walk through the sitting area of the room. Upon walking in I was hit with the strong smell of smoke. Cigar smoke. As if a group of men were sharing an old cuban. I started worrying someone smoked and we would get in trouble with the owners. I decided to use the rest room, then address the problem. The room was creepy, in the bathroom I felt watched. I hurried washing my hands to get out as fast as possible, the creepiness was too much. When I walked back into the room the smell was completely gone. Like nothing had happened. I ran down the stairs pausing as I came up to the eerie hallway and it feeling of “don’t go in there!” was loud and clear. I ran down the last flight hoping I didn’t wake the other boarders and felt a light push on my way down. Thankfully the night was quiet and we left in the morning. The others in our group in the other room opposite the bathroom said the felt someone sitting on the end of the bed in the middle of the night.
