Radisson Prince Charles Hotel

You are here Home  > Historical Buildings >  Radisson Prince Charles Hotel

Reports say that this hotel may be closed for business, but the building is said to be haunted by the ghost of Charlotte, a young woman who committed suicide here in the early 1900s. It seems that Charlotte was distraught after finding her new husband in bed with a bridesmaid on the 7th floor, in the honeymonn and presidential suite. She was known to play tricks with the doors and ride to the 8th floor on the elevator around midnight.

I am a G.H.O.S.T. hunter and my crew and I would like to investigate with video and audio recording, and maybe even some knock pattern investigations. If you would please, give me a call at (336)242-367seven to give us the okay or a denial. Thank you so much!

  2. I stayed there in 2004. At night I heard loud noises in the room, I turned the light on and the furniture was rearranged differently. I left at 3am because I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could.

  3. I used to be a bartender, bouncer and helped out with maintenance at the Prince Charles. I was doing some painting in the 8th floor ballroom on day. With no one else around I heard someone walking in heel’s across the hardwood floor. I turned, saw that no one was there and just said, “Hi Charlotte.” It was a great experience, that just seemed to give credence to the stories of Charlotte.

    • Agreed Curtis. I would be cleaning the brass on the 1st/2nd floor railings on the fourier on the graveyard shift and the elevator would go from the 1st floor to the 2nd, stay open for a good 25 seconds even after beeping and go back to the 1st floor and open as if someone was holding the elevator and the let off on the 1st floor when no one was around there to use the elevators. It all happened at 2am on the dot every morning. Or how the elevators NEVER worked during weddings even if repaired that day but worked any other event that was held. I would sit at the desk and say “Charlotte, let them be happy now stop it” and laugh it off.

I am part a paranormal investigations group and would love to be able to get in touch with someone that can give us the okay and permission to go inside and investigate with digital pictures, audio recorders, EMF readers, laser grid, night vision and infrared imagery. 5. i used to work across the street at the police station night shift. it is quite the ominous feeling and i always felt as if i was being watched from the top floor as i walked to my car.

i wanted to walk around inside and contacted the new owner of the prince charles… who acquired through auction held early jan 2015. the owner is the son of the original contractor that built the prince charles. he was to get back in touch with me about a tour because at the time he was uncertain if insurance would cover tours (disrepair and alot of debris)

the hotel is supposed to be renovated and converted to apartments.

    • They are apartments now, I work in the coffee shop in the first floor. Someone has already died there since the remodel it’s such an eerie place.

  6. I worked there from 1999 to 2001. The hotel is definitely haunted. I was just in there a few days ago. The hotel is vacant but is under new ownership. The old girl is in horrible shape but she’s about to get some renovations.

  7. I want to go tour in there, its a beautiful hotel and I would love to see some history and maybe a ghost. I feel her pain, I’ve never been married but I have been cheated on so I know How it feels and for a best friend to sleep with your husband its a double betrayal. Poor woman never got the closure she wanted especially commiting suicide if shes still walking around in there and all the pain and hurt still bothers her.

  8. This hotel was haunted. It was revonated into a apartment /hotel in 2008-2009 and at this time I believe I lived on the 6th or 7th floor in a double suite. While sleeping, I woke up and had a entity that hovered over my bed and made me completely freeze. I felt as if I was being choked and I couldnt speak. When I was looking above me I saw it was a large dark mass (this situation is why I left and moved out) .. i always wondered what it was because charolette who was there did do things but never felt “dangerous”.
I can remember one time being so scared in the elevator and feeling trapped . I told my gf at the time I had to get out of the elevator and just suddenly was petrified. I ran out the building and as soon as I got out I felt 100% better. Now I’m from Fayetteville nc, so there are several hauntings and ghost stories. But what tops the cake, is while I lived there a man killed himself (rip) on the 4th floor. (One of many suicides so i heard). The smell will never leave my nose. It filled my nose as soon as the elevator doors opened when i came to visit a friend one day who lived on the same floor. We found out that day he was found and had died a week prior…. you can only imagine. A dark dark thing truley haunted people in that hotel… if not many dark things.

  9. We stayed there in 2001 or 2002 when they held the states all star little league teams. Me and my mom stayed on the 3rd floor. When we went to bed we both fell straight to sleep around 2 or 3 am something woke me up I actually sit straight up and screamed mom. She was up and something pulled her covers down and got in bed with her. Well we left the next day.

  10. I lived in Fayetteville from 1971 – 76 and in those days downtown Hay Street was like the old wild west, with the Prince Charles in the center of things. I worked for several years at The Quality Shop clothing store just down the street. Their were a lot of topless bars along Hay Street and even one in the hotel itself. Payday weekends were especially crazy with the army, air force, and visiting marines from Camp LeJeune in town. The sleazy fun places are all gone now, replaced by the big police station and military museum. I last visited in 2004 and was surprised at all the changes to downtown.

  11. I currently live in the apartments and there are a few strange things that have happened over the last year and a half but nothing that ever made me feel like the spirits are bad… And I am pretty in tune…. I sleep great! Charlotte pulls her mess but if you talk to her and acknowledge that she’s there-she tends to act us, less.

  12. I work at the coffee shop in the prince Charles now. It always has an eerie feeling, like when I get there to open at 6:30 I’m never alone. It never feels alone. Someone else JUST passed away in the apartments, and it just makes you wonder why so much in one building.
