According to tales told about this cemetery, there is a secret passage that opens up at night, when trees part and a path appears to an ancient graveyard. It’s said to be protected by a phantom wolf who chases trespassers. (The cemetery is not to be confused with another Anderson Cemetery near Palmer, IL.)

I live in Taylorvile and I have been to the cemetery before, the first time I went was on a blood moon and before we got even to the edge of the tree line that would lead to the cemetery there was a wolf howl that sounded really near. It freaked my friends and out so much because we had read this website that we sprinted through the fields back to the truck.
About 10 years ago a few friends and I hopped the fence and walked out to this cemetery. It was really windy that day but as soon as we walked thru the gates there was no wind at all. It’s very over grown with nothing but deer trails going through the six foot weeds. You couldn’t read the headstones the weeds were so thick, so I was just walking around and decided to pull the weeds back on a random head stone and it was my last name. Lil creepy and there’s definitely an odd feeling when you are in there.
we were the people who own the farm that was just down the hill from this cemetery. I don’t know about the cemetery being haunted but the farm house we had was. I believe the cemetery was originally apart of the original farm but I could be wrong. All the owners of the old farm actually died at the farm through murder or suicide. My father being the last one to commit suicide there. After my Dad’s passing my mother had the house torn down.
Nancy,
Is it frowned upon to come and visit this cemetery if it isn’t incredibly late (before 10)? I am an enthusiast of cemeteries and have made quite a book from places I’ve visited and would like to add this to my list.
Have u published any books?
Where is the place actually located? is it Clarksdale, IL or Taylorville?
Taylorville
May I ask where it is at? I’m all about respect. I’m just curious in the the history. My mom and I like to go out to cemeteries and then look up the history of the people buried in it.

Isn’t the cemetery behind a gate in the woods on a farm? How did you get your vehicle up there?
