Although many claim the Old Faithful Inn is haunted, and it may well be, with the usual assortment of moving object stories, doors opening and closing on their own and other apparitions, it appears that the most well-known of the stories – that of the headless bride – has been proven to be an invention by a long time caretaker who was looking to spice up the stories surrounding the Inn. George Bornemann claims that after reading about a decapitation murder that took place there, he began to invent the ghostly bride ascending the staircase to the Crow’s Nest to retrieve her head. The story caught on, and soon people were claiming to see it, but he attests it was not grounded in fact.
