Pearl Shine, a woman who in 1936 conspired with her hired hand to kill her husband, is said to haunt this peaceful area. Pearl was caught, tried, and convicted, and she died in prison. Other ghosts here include a man who committed suicide by walking into the muddy bog, and a traveling peddler who was robbed and decapitated here in 1858. There are reports of seeing him walking in the area, carrying his head under his arm.

Pearl Shine was released from prison and lived a long life afterward. No one thinks her ghost haunts Mossy Glen. It’s an eerie place but the ghosts are a lover spurned, a peddler killed and decapitated. Check another site for the facts.
