The haunts at this opera house, built between 1889 and 1890, like to pull pranks. The lights operate by themselves, and cameras and tape recorders behave strangely. Witnesses have also heard ghostly singing from a seemingly empty stage, and apparitions have been seen as well. The ghosts here are loved by the people who run the opera house, because they seem to love the theater and they don’t do anything terribly frightening.

My ex-husband helped operate the Grand Theatre in the early 80’s. We all chipped in to paint and spruce it up and I worked there many nights. I never saw , felt, or heard a thing. It was a neat old place though! It did have a fair amount of bat activity.
During a dress rehearsal for the Xavier follies I was tapped on the shoulder while sitting in front of the long mirrors in the basement dressing room. It was pretty clear that no one was there but it sent shivers up my spine as I raced to the staircase to join the cast.
I worked the Grand as a movie house from 1976 to 1980. Spent many a late nights walking through the place and closing up after all the patrons were long gone. Although it was a dark scary place to wander around at night with only a flashlight, I never, not once, had the feeling the place was haunted. But believe me, it did take some nerve to walk the bowels of the place at 1am alone. Jeff
