The library is allegedly haunted by a poltergeist-type entity who moves objects, laughs and makes other noises. Some people claim to see a glowing “presence” in the library as well.

The mansion was closed and my mother and I were looking at the outside of the mansion. No one was around and all of a sudden a tennis ball drops down on us from somewhere above. It was like someone threw it out of a window from way up high. It was so strange when it happened, that one of my first thoughts was that a ghost had thrown it at us.
i was about 7 or 8 years old visiting iowa and my grandparents lived right down the street so one day it was closed and we decided to go walk around the property since the outside was open even though the inside was closed (i can’t remember why, maybe renovations or it was just closed at the time). so it’s me and my grandma, admiring the outside of this huuuge house, with beautiful brick and windows. i looked up at one of the second story windows of the front or side of the house, and saw a woman wearing early 19th century style clothes, a dark greenish blueish gown with a corset. she had her red hair curled in a half up half down style and beautiful earrings in, and i remember very distinctly there were peacock feathers in her hairdo. she was holding a lace fan and looking right at me. i was mesmerized, and turned to tug my grandmas arm to show her. when we looked back, she was gone.
I think it’s a good idea to offer an offering for this haunted place even though I’ve never seen a ghost
