Hundreds of spirits are said to call this state pen home. Al Capone was an inmate here, and he reportedly was visited by the apparition of James Clark, who was killed in the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre under Capone’s orders. Cell Block 12 is reportedly the most fearsome place here — witnesses have reported shadowy masses and figures. The guard tower even has its own ghost, that of a former guard.

for human suffering this palce was particularly brutal. while the faiclities ,at the time, were considered state of the art the mindset of the wardens and guards were brutal.
I’ve been here once a few years back on a field trip for my brothers class. Especially with the history invovled and the souls who were imprisoned here, it is a must go to place at least once in your life.
My wife and I visited here in late april 2015 We didn’t feel or ‘sense’ anything but at one point, looking down the length of one of the cell blocks I saw an interesting phenomonon, there was what seemed to be a patch of darkness moving steadily down what was an otherwise brightly lit hall way, away from us. It was a particularly odd cloud formation moving quickly accross the building selectively blocking the light from sky light, but if you weren’t aware of the wind outside, it would have been damn creepy.
Likewise when I looked at one of the guard towers, there was a deformation in the glass window about the right size and hsape to be a human head. If you only looked quickly in that direction , or took a photo that happened to include the tower window in it you could easily think you’d caught ‘something’ on film.
hallway with shadows
When I went into cell number 1 and straightened up, I was light headed and nauseated as long as I stayed within the cell.
I own ocf and on several occasions I have stayed the night here and the ghosts have been very strong
